Klaus U. Thiedmann is a shareholder in Reinhart’s Corporate Law and International practices, where he concentrates on the representation of local and foreign clients with international requirements, with a special emphasis on the representation of European companies and their subsidiaries in the United States.
Clients rely on Klaus to counsel them throughout the complex issues faced with foreign investment in the United States, U.S. investment abroad, international trade and related matters. In addition, he advises U.S. businesses entering and expanding in Europe, and represents European clients on boards of directors of U.S. companies. During the last 30 years he has been involved in more than 100 mergers, acquisitions and divestitures representing foreign and domestic companies and/or their stockholders.
Klaus began his career in international and commercial law with the law firm of Rossbach & Kirchner in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He became associated with a large Chicago-based law firm, and subsequently started his own law practice which merged into the law firm of Thiedmann & Edler.
Klaus was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, and speaks German, French and English. He studied at the University of Frankfurt, the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, Cornell University and Northwestern University.
Having obtained a law degree in West Germany and a Juris Doctor from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, Klaus is admitted to the Illinois State Bar.
He has spoken at seminars concerning various aspects of doing business in the United States and in Europe and is the co-author of a treatise on advertising law in the United States and Europe. Klaus is a Fulbright International Scholar and recipient of the German Foreign Office Award.
