MADISON / MINNEAPOLIS – Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. (Reinhart) is pleased to announce the addition of Amanda Cefalu (Minneapolis office) and Olivia Esser (Madison office), expanding the firm’s Employee Benefits and Real Estate practices, respectively.
Cefalu is a litigator and legal adviser who is passionate about protecting employee benefits. Working out of the firm’s Minneapolis office, she focuses her practice on assisting clients with ERISA litigation and counseling, Taft-Hartley issues, employment law and commercial litigation. She represents and counsels both employers and clients in discrimination claims, retaliation, sexual harassment, FMLA, wrongful discharge and non-compete claims, among others. In addition to being an experienced litigator, Cefalu helps clients protect their plan assets. She’s practical and direct, working to understand her clients’ goals and efficiently deliver results. She crafts strategies on how to avoid litigation and defend ERISA-related claims, benefit denials, misrepresentation and improper plan management. Cefalu also represents plan clients in their efforts to pursue delinquent contributions, protect subrogation and reimbursement rights, enforce auditing programs and collect withdrawal liability. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School, and her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Based out of the firm’s Madison office, Esser counsels clients on transactional matters, title surveys, environmental issues and more for commercial groups. Her background in trusts, estate planning and general corporate matters gives her a broad perspective and the skills to evaluate transactions within the framework of long-range planning and business impact. Esser excels in managing the details and breaking down complex information while highlighting high-priority items. Always keeping the big picture in mind, Esser carefully weighs the impact of legal decisions so her clients can focus on achieving their business goals. Esser earned her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
