- Tomás Clasen
As an attorney in Reinhart’s Real Estate Practice, Tomás Clasen assists in transactions that alter the landscape in positive ways. He counsels clients on complex commercial real estate matters, including purchasing and sales, leasing, entitlements, construction law, tax incremental financing and conventional financing. He has extensive experience working with municipalities on land use entitlements and zoning issues.
Relationships are key to success in the commercial real estate arena, and Tomás continually invests in expanding his experience, knowledge and network to benefit his clients. For instance, during Tomás’ hiatus from the firm in 2020-21, he worked on various federal, state and local political campaigns. He also lobbied for reform on the state and local level throughout Wisconsin and worked alongside government officials to find local solutions to national issues that face communities throughout the country.
Tomás also handles licensing work in the food and beverage arena, helping businesses secure beer and liquor licenses through state and local agencies.
Tomás approaches every matter with a self-described micro/macro mindset. Not only does he work to find a solution for the immediate issue, but he also strategizes about how that solution may impact future decisions. He is responsive and proactive, helping his clients change course when necessary to avoid roadblocks.
Tomás also enjoys giving back to his community and his profession. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association and on the boards of several local education organizations, including City Forward Collective and the Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy. Prior to law school, he participated in Teach For America and spent four years helping raise student achievement rates in New York public schools.
In his free time, Tomás enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, running and exploring new restaurants.
