Monica Mark is an experienced litigator who is passionate about helping clients successfully navigate volatile or complex legal proceedings. She’s an integral part of Reinhart’s Intellectual Property Team and very active in appellate work, offering critical guidance at every stage of a case. She has briefed appeals in numerous courts, including both state and federal courts of appeals, and has argued before both the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Clients turn to Monica for assistance with intellectual property matters, especially patent litigation. She works on patent cases from the filing of the complaint through claim construction, summary judgment and trial, and she also has experience in patent-related administrative proceedings such as inter partes review. Her background, which is heavily focused on writing and clearly communicating complex concepts, helps her make the science and technology issues involved in patent cases accessible. In addition, Monica has substantial experience in trademark, trade dress and copyright litigation.
Monica is also a member of Reinhart’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Team and can advise clients on the technical and regulatory requirements, challenges and opportunities of AI technology.
Before joining Reinhart, Monica held a clerkship for two years with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, and a clerkship for one year with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Her experience in judiciary matters gives her a unique understanding of how to strategize throughout litigation and, if necessary, on appeal.
Monica was recognized as the firm's 2021 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for the countless hours she devoted to this cause. She is a volunteer on the State Bar of Wisconsin Appellate Help Desk and works to involve junior associates in pro bono cases.
Monica is actively involved in service work in the community, including volunteering with the Dane County Humane Society.
Outside the office, Monica enjoys powerlifting, ultimate frisbee, cooking and baking, reading, gardening and composting, and spending time with her family.
