Katie Breunig is a paralegal and licensing manager in Reinhart’s Corporate Law Practice, specializing in consumer finance. She uses her extensive experience to assist attorneys and clients on matters such as regulatory compliance, licensing and contract drafting.

Katie worked alongside the consumer finance attorneys to create a comprehensive compliance and regulatory tracking system that monitors more than 6,000 state regulatory consumer finance laws, significantly reducing risk by ensuring clients can promptly adapt to legal updates. She maintains the tracking system on a daily basis.

As the licensing manager, Katie coordinates consumer finance licensing projects on behalf of attorneys and clients. She also conducts comprehensive audits of consumer finance companies state operations to mitigate legal risk and prevent potential fines for unlicensed and unregistered activity. Katie manages the staff in preparation and submission of regulatory filings to government agencies in a timely and accurate manner.

Katie is well-versed in the licensing process, including the drafting of lender, servicer and broker license applications, and the completion of timely renewals, supplements and other filings. Her extensive understanding of the laws and practices of each state, as well as the interplay between different states’ requirements, allows her to proactively anticipate and avoid obstacles in a variety of regulatory processes.

She also maintains a thorough up-to-date library of client information, legal findings and relevant statutes, which facilitates accessible and cost-effective answers to client questions and issues.

With two decades of experience, Katie’s organizational skills and responsive, personable approach make her a trusted adviser.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing video games and kayaking.
