- Karla M. Nettleton
Tax attorney Karla Nettleton is a collaborative legal adviser to a variety of clients on a full range of matters, including tax controversy, litigation and planning. Her practice primarily focuses on federal and state income tax matters. In addition, she represents clients in sales and use tax, property tax, room tax and excise tax matters.
She excels in finding creative ways to negotiate favorable settlements and handle litigation to minimize tax assessments. She also advises on strategic tax planning to minimize exposure to non-compliance risks. Karla’s accounting background and experience working in the tax industry make her an effective adviser. Before joining Reinhart, Karla worked as a tax consultant for a Big Four accounting firm and interned in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel.
She is an experienced litigator, having appeared before the Wisconsin Tax Appeals Commission, U.S. Tax Court and the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Her clients, who range from private individuals to mid-market manufacturers to Fortune 500 companies, benefit from her forthright, informed approach. She’s proactive in sharing tax updates and finding practical solutions that allow clients to move forward with the maximum benefit.
Along with advocating for her clients, Karla is passionate about sports law and mentoring young women. She holds a Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute and has been published in the Marquette Sports Law Review. She also coaches a negotiation team at Marquette University Law School.
Away from the office, Karla enjoys sewing and quilting, exercising and cheering on her beloved University of Montana Grizzlies football team.
