- John M. Murphy
As a shareholder in Reinhart’s Real Estate Practice, John Murphy believes in taking ownership of his client’s problems and relentlessly pursuing solutions. From big deals to small questions, he’s accessible and responsive.
John has extensive transactional experience in acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, real estate finance and sale/leasebacks. He helps negotiate and draft complex documentation, supervises due diligence, works through easement and property tax issues in real estate transactions and offers real estate opinions. His clients span the country and include lenders, borrowers, developers, buyers, sellers, tenants, landlords and joint ventures. He enjoys developing long-term relationships with his clients and helping their businesses flourish.
John serves as Treasurer of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and formerly taught advanced contract drafting as an adjunct professor of law at Marquette University Law School.
Away from the office, John enjoys learning new languages, snow skiing, hiking and spending time with his wife, four children and two very large dogs.

- Regularly represents a very large shipping supply company as its outside real estate counsel in leasing transactions.
- Regularly represents individual agencies affiliated with a Fortune 500 national insurance company with their leasing and subleasing requirements.
- Represents a renewable energy company with its bioenergy projects in Wisconsin.
- Regularly serves clients and other law firms as Wisconsin local counsel in various financing transactions as either borrower’s or lender’s counsel to ensure that the applicable loan documents comply with Wisconsin law and issue appropriate local counsel opinions to support the loan transaction.
- Regularly serves clients and other law firms as Wisconsin local counsel in various acquisition, disposition and leasing transactions involving Wisconsin real property.
