Derek H. Campbell

Derek Campbell thrives on the challenges of resolving complex patent issues as part of Reinhart’s Intellectual Property Law Practice. He manages all aspects of patent counseling and prosecution, including disclosure meetings, brainstorming, preparing patent applications and office action responses, and assisting in the development of large patent portfolios. His primary focus is in the mechanical and computer science fields, where he helps clients get the protection or clearance they need to move forward successfully.

Before law school, Derek spent seven years working as a software engineer, IT consultant and network administrator. This deep experience makes him an especially knowledgeable legal partner with a thorough understanding of the industry. He is also skilled in reviewing patent license and patent sale agreements and performing IP litigation support.

Derek is a member of Reinhart’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Team and can advise clients on the technical and regulatory requirements, challenges and opportunities of AI technology.

Away from the office, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, being outdoors and playing tennis.
