Anthony Handzlik is a shareholder in Reinhart’s Corporate Law and Tax practices, where he works with companies across many industries, including manufacturing, construction, service, distribution, real estate and nonprofit organizations.

Clients value Tony’s ability to quickly identify key issues and offer cost-effective, practical business solutions to complex legal issues. His unique combination of engineering background, intellectual curiosity and financial expertise make him an especially effective legal partner. He represents clients in all phases of their business life cycle, including startup, capitalization and growth financing, general contracting and real estate matters, employment and executive compensation (including equity compensation planning), acquisitions and divestitures, recapitalizations, and succession planning and exit strategies. Clients from closely held and family-owned companies especially appreciate his deep experience in implementing succession plans and resolving internal disputes.

Tony also works with complex nonprofit structures and was instrumental in forming the BrightStar Wisconsin Foundation. This one-of-a-kind organization partners with government, educational institutions, charitable organizations, angel groups and venture funds to find, invest in and promote fast-growing, early-stage companies to create technology-based jobs in Wisconsin. His creativity and experience lead to innovative ideas for complex, cutting-edge structures.

Tony is collaborative, taking ownership of his clients’ goals and moving beyond providing options to offer workable solutions. He enjoys exceeding their expectations and becoming a trusted advisor in both business and legal issues.

He serves as head of Reinhart’s Professional Development and Advancement Committee, where he mentors young attorneys in how to become better advisors to their clients.

Away from the office, Tony enjoys water and snow skiing, home improvement projects and spending time with his family.

  • Represented a Midwest-based computer manufacturer and distributor in the sale of its stock to private equity firm in auction process
  • Represented a private equity firm in the acquisition of manufacturer of paper-related products
  • Represented a Midwest-based manufacturer in the acquisition of a manufacturing facility from an international manufacturing customer and negotiation of a long-term customer supply agreement utilizing state financial incentives to maintain and grow Wisconsin employment
  • Represented a national multi-generational family business in restructuring its operations to facilitate ownership succession and minimize estate and income taxes
  • Represented numerous tech-related startups in structuring and capital raising efforts, including ventures focused upon drug development, medical devices and “green” plastics
  • Represented a group of successful benevolent entrepreneurs in forming, with state government support, a nonprofit venture capital corporation intended to spur job creation in Wisconsin by investing in early-stage tech companies

  • Regular experience in structuring and negotiating LLC agreements containing complex “waterfall” provisions, including IRR and other performance-based mechanisms
