ROCKFORD – Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. (Reinhart) is pleased to announce that Shareholder Jeffery Makeever has been appointed to the International Trademark Association (INTA) Patents Committee. His term is effective Jan. 1, 2026, to Dec. 31, 2027.
As a member of the committee, Makeever will help develop the association’s policy agenda. He will also support education and awareness programs for members on patent law, practice and management. In addition, he will monitor developments and trends in treaties, case law, legislation and prosecution practices across various jurisdictions, and prepare analyses and policy recommendations for the board. Committee duties also include drafting reports and submissions, engaging with other organizations, developing educational programs and tools, and supporting advocacy efforts in coordination with other relevant INTA committees and staff.
Makeever is a shareholder in Reinhart’s Intellectual Property Practices and is the managing shareholder of the firm’s Rockford, Illinois, office. His deep engineering background shapes his relentlessly practical approach to ensuring companies and innovators are free to focus on moving their businesses forward. Makeever counsels a wide variety of clientele, including multinational corporations and research universities headquartered in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. He frequently travels internationally to meet with clients, build long-term relationships and immerse himself in their operations. Makeever primarily serves clients in competitive analysis, establishing corporate patent culture, intellectual property audits, patent prosecutions and searches, trademark portfolio management and prosecution, patent counseling and prosecution, and patent/intellectual property litigation.
