Reinhart Shareholder Makeever Named One of Rockford's "Twenty People You Should Know"

ROCKFORD – Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren P.C. (Reinhart) shareholder Jeffery J. Makeever has been named one of Rockford's "Twenty People You Should Know." Makeever and the other award recipients were honored the evening of October 17 at a Rockford Chamber of Commerce reception. Honorees are individuals who contribute to the civic, economic and cultural vitality of the Rockford area, and are actively involved in moving the community forward, standing out in the crowd and taking the time to mentor others.

A longtime resident of the Rockford area, Makeever has held leadership roles in numerous professional and community organizations. Elected president of the Winnebago County Bar Association (WCBA) in July 2013, Makeever was Vice President of the WCBA for the preceding two years, previously served on the WCBA's Board of Directors and was President of the Winnebago County Bar Foundation. Makeever's past board service includes serving as President of the Discovery Center Museum's Board of Directors, President of the Riverfront Museum Park's Board of Directors, member of the University of Illinois College of Medicine's Advisory Board for its Masters in Medical Biotechnology Degree Program, and member of the Montessori Learning Path's Board of Directors. Makeever also is a current member of the Forest Hills Country Club Board of Directors.

Makeever is the managing shareholder of the firm's Rockford office and chair of Reinhart's Intellectual Property Practice. He serves a wide range of university, individual and corporate clients in a variety of industries including aerospace, consumer products and components, industrial equipment, medical research and equipment, and consumer software.

Makeever's clientele includes multinational clients headquartered in both the United States and Europe, as well as research universities. He frequently functions as a trusted advisor to senior management and to clients' in-house counsel, providing advice regarding forward planning and the training of engineering and marketing personnel.

Makeever earned his B.S.E.E., with honors, from Ohio Northern University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from John Marshall Law School, where he graduated first in his class and fourth overall.
