Reinhart Selected to Receive Award for Pro Bono Work

MILWAUKEE – Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. has been selected to receive the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) 2009 Exceptional Pro Bono Partnership Award for our participation in the Domestic Abuse Injunction project.

As part of this project, 10 Reinhart lawyers have provided pro bono services to domestic abuse victims in court to secure restraining orders against their abusers. Reinhart began the project with Legal Action of Wisconsin's VLP in 2007. Reinhart attorneys currently cover 15 weeks a year and are responsible for VLP's overflow injunction cases during those assigned weeks. Current team members include Colleen Fielkow, Nora Gierke, James Denis, Becky Frihart, Matt Feery, Bob Jones, Laura Straus, Tony Trillo, Tom Phillips and Bill Rinehart.

Reinhart's team, among other award recipients, will be honored by Legal Action at the Annual Metro Milwaukee Area VLP Awards Reception on Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Italian Community Center.

The private attorneys who volunteer their time through the VLP believe in the principle of equal access to the legal system, of making "justice for all" more than just a promise. These attorneys are convinced that our legal system must work for all of its citizens. Each year, VLP attorneys donate more than 3,000 hours of legal work while balancing busy lives and their own caseloads.
