- Reinhart Named 2021 Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year by State Bar of Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE – Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. (Reinhart) is pleased to announce the firm was named the Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year for 2021 by the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Legal Assistance Committee. The award recognizes demonstrated commitment to and outstanding pro bono service. Reinhart was recognized in particular for the firm’s service benefiting domestic abuse victims, and for expanding the firm’s commitment during the pandemic to serve clients beyond Milwaukee County.
“We are grateful for this recognition, but also acknowledge the generous pro bono work of many attorneys in our state," said Reinhart Pro Bono Committee Co-Chairs Mark Cameli and Andrew Price. "This work strengthens our communities by assisting those who cannot otherwise afford legal counsel and ensures that justice is not denied to someone merely because they cannot pay the costs of protecting their rights. We are honored to serve our pro bono clients.”
Reinhart made a special effort to assist low-income clients seeking legal protection through domestic abuse injunctions. In 2021, the firm expanded its pro bono commitment to helping domestic abuse survivors beyond in-person injunction hearings in Milwaukee County, handling remote hearings in other counties, including Winnebago county. Over the last 10 years, the Reinhart volunteers have helped more than 172 abuse victims.
Reinhart's pro bono activities make a profound difference in the lives of many. For more than 100 years, Reinhart's attorneys have committed their time and resources to serving the public through pro bono work. In 1916, Reinhart helped found the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee. The firm’s diverse and innovative pro bono practice has made significant contributions to many community service and charitable activities. In addition to working with domestic abuse victims, Reinhart's attorneys devote thousands of hours to assisting nonprofits, local bars and many private causes.
Shareholder and Pro Bono Committee Co-Chair Andy Price accepted the award at the State Bar of Wisconsin Annual Meeting & Conference at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva during the Member Recognition Celebration on Thursday, June 16.
