Robert Misey, Kristina Somers, Michael Goller, Neil Donetti, Peter Soukenik and Joseph Rekrut were featured speakers at the 2024 Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) Tax Conference on November 11-12, 2024 at the Brookfield Conference Center. The WICPA annual conference is a premiere event for tax professionals seeking updates on timely issues and key insights in the field.

  • Misey and Donetti led a session titled "A Practical Guide to Determining When a Foreign Business is Subject to US Tax," which provided practical examples of how the United States Code taxes foreign business differently, including a framework for analyzing situations that foreign clients may encounter.
  • Somers presented her 12th annual “Wisconsin Tax Update,” which reported on the latest developments in Wisconsin case law, legislation and administrative changes affecting tax practitioners.
  • Goller led a general session on "Hot Tax Practice & Procedure & Ethics Issues," covering timely tax and ethics issues for practitioners, particularly in light of increased IRS funding and scrutiny.
  • Soukenik participated in a panel discussion on Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirements, sharing insights on how firms can best assist their clients with new obligations.
  • Rekrut presented an "ERC Update: Current Developments in Uncharted Waters," focusing on recent IRS enforcement and controversial developments related to the Employee Retention Credit.

Misey is a shareholder in Reinhart's Tax and Corporate Law Practices as well as chair of the firm's International Practice. He serves a wide range of clients involved in an array of industries such as manufacturing, distribution, securities, sport and entertainment with international taxation and tax controversy matters.

Somers is a shareholder in Reinhart's Tax, Litigation and Tax-Exempt Organizations practices. She advocates on behalf of clients involved in tax controversy disputes in Wisconsin and other states. Kristina also offers planning strategies to minimize taxes for businesses operating in Wisconsin and those with multi-state operations.

Goller is a shareholder in the Tax and Corporate Law practice, leveraging his more than three decades of experience, accounting degree and strong relationships within the IRS to be an especially effective tax lawyer. He assists clients with federal and state tax controversy, tax litigation and tax planning.
