  3. Most Assisted Living Facilities Denied PPE from National Strategic Stockpile

Assisted living facilities will have until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2020, to apply for supplies from the national stockpile of personal protective equipment (PPE). The Bureau for Assisted Living made the announcement during their April 7, 2020, Assisted Living Forum.

Currently, only facilities with residents who test positive for COVID-19 will receive PPE from the national supply, but every assisted living facility should apply for PPE in case there is excess to distribute. Facilities can find the application here.

Additionally, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is automatically granting variances for the following instances during the coronavirus pandemic:

  • Facilities can postpone pre-employment TB tests for workers
  • Facilities can postpone the pre-admission TB test for residents

Just last week, assisted living facilities were being encouraged to submit individual variance requests absent the blanket waiver.
