  3. Matt Ackmann Recognized for Law Clinic Work during Pro Bono Week

Marquette University Law School recently saluted Attorney Matt Ackmann during National Pro Bono Week for his continuing commitment to providing free legal counsel at the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic (MVLC). Ackmann is a member of Reinhart’s Trusts & Estates practice where he helps individuals and families reach their short- and long-term estate planning goals.

Ackmann started volunteering with the MVLC while he was a student at MU Law, and he carried that dedication forward after graduation.

"It's important for me to use my career skills to give back to the community" Ackmann said. "The MVLC helps break down the barriers to justice, and it is extremely gratifying to be a small part of that process."

As a volunteer lawyer with the MVLC, Ackmann advises clients on a variety of civil matters, typically at the Milwaukee Justice Center location. Too often, the people he sees only have contact with lawyers through opposing counsel, if at all, Ackmann stressed, adding, "You can see in real time how the sessions, even though brief, can give worried and stressed individuals peace of mind."

Reinhart Shareholder Christine Rew Barden works closely with Ackmann, and she praised his work at the firm.

“In his short time with us, Matt has become an integral part of our practice, particularly in the Waukesha office,” she said. “His legal skills, coupled with his relatability and practical sense of judgment, make him a key addition to our Trusts and Estates team.”
