  3. Local Transportation Taxes: Coming to Your Community?

Policymakers in Wisconsin have long proposed ways to provide local governments with alternatives to property taxes. Governor Tony Evers proposed allowing local governments to collect an additional local sales tax in his latest budget, but was shut down by the state legislature. Now, some municipalities across the state have discussed instituting a transportation utility or transportation tax in their communities.

Reinhart attorney Don Millis discusses the potential problems with these taxing schemes and what they could mean for residents around the state.

Reinhart’s State and Local Tax group has extensive experience in dealing with local government taxation. If you believe the community you live in or operate a business in will enact one of these tax schemes, please contact Don Millis or another attorney in this group with questions.
