Melanie Lee and Josh Taggatz Co-Author “Wisconsin Law of Easements and Restrictive Covenants”

Reinhart shareholders Melanie S. Lee and Joshua D. Taggatz are authors of the newly published book, “Wisconsin Law of Easements and Restrictive Covenants,” published by the State Bar of Wisconsin. This book is the preeminent resource for anyone who deals with real property. The authors provide a comprehensive look at the statutes and case law surrounding easements, restrictive covenants, riparian rights and interpretive guidelines that Wisconsin courts have used in interpreting easements and covenants. The book's original author is retired Reinhart Shareholder Jesse S. Ishikawa.

Melanie is a shareholder in Reinhart’s Real Estate Practice and co-chair of the firm’s Construction Group. Melanie works with a broad range of clients advising them in respect to construction contracts, general purchase, sales and leasing matters. She frequently works with borrowers and lenders regarding commercial real estate finance, especially including construction loans. She also has extensive experience advising declarants, unit owners and condominium association clients with condominium association matters – providing guidance on a full spectrum of needs and strategic planning. Her approach to law starts with communication. Her commitment to one-on-one interaction allows her to gain a holistic understanding of her client’s businesses, needs and ultimate goals to work toward an optimum outcome with respect to budgetary constraints.

Josh is a trial attorney in Reinhart’s Litigation Practice, where he provides legal representation to a wide range of clients ranging from individuals to major corporations. Josh primarily handles real estate disputes involving commercial leasing, construction, evictions, purchase and sale transactions, easements, and condominiums. He works with his clients to gain an understanding of their specific objectives to develop legal strategies to efficiently resolve disputes and meet those objectives. Josh works collaboratively with Reinhart’s real estate attorneys to combine his litigation and procedural knowledge with the extensive experience of Reinhart’s Real Estate Team. This collaborative approach strengthens his clients’ position in real estate and property-related cases.
