  3. Guy Temple Named Reinhart Pro Bono Attorney of the Year

Milwaukee, WI Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c.

Reinhart shareholder Guy R. Temple has been named the 2020 Reinhart Pro Bono Attorney of the Year.

Temple was chosen as this year’s honoree because of his deep commitment to providing quality legal services to those who are unable to pay for the representation they need. With more than 200 hours dedicated to pro bono work over the past year alone, Temple frequently represents domestic abuse survivors and those in involuntary mental health commitments.

Among his many accomplishments, Temple partnered with the advocacy group Disability Rights Wisconsin, where he filed an Amicus Brief with the Wisconsin Supreme Court seeking to have the court recognize the significant consequences of involuntary mental health commitments. He also filed to adapt an exception to the Mootness Doctrine, so that all commitments are reviewed by appellate courts on their merits regardless of whether someone is still committed or not.

“Reinhart has a long-standing tradition of pro bono service to those in our community who may otherwise be denied excellent legal representation,” says Reinhart CEO Albert Orr, “and Guy Temple exemplifies that spirit of selfless dedication to others in need.” In addition to Temple’s service to Disability Rights Wisconsin, he has worked extensively with Legal Action Wisconsin, and with the Sojourner Family Peace Center in its mission to protect survivors of domestic abuse.

As a Reinhart shareholder, Temple regularly provides counsel to a diverse group of clients within Reinhart’s Litigation Practice, including business owners, developers, product manufacturers and distributors, with a range of complex legal issues related to product distribution, franchising and supply chain disputes.

Reinhart initiated its Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award program in 2009 to recognize the exceptional efforts of attorneys within the firm who demonstrate a long-standing and devoted commitment to pro bono work.
