  3. DHS Issues Outside Visitation Guidance for Wisconsin Nursing Homes

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on July 17, 2020, released new visitation guidance for nursing home facilities. In short, visitation is allowed outdoors with a designated schedule. Additional rules include:

  • Visitors should be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to being allowed access to the facility.
  • Visitors should not walk through the facility to access the outdoor space.
  • Visitors and residents must wear masks.
  • No physical contact between visitors and residents.
  • Visitors and residents should maintain social distancing at all times during the visit.
  • Staff must be present in the outdoor space for patient safety.
