  3. Despite Cold Real Estate Market, Financing Options Thawing in Madison

MADISON – "Despite everything you hear on the national level," says Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren attorney Harvey L. Temkin, "real estate lending is still happening in the Greater Madison Area. However, the deals are more difficult and creativity is the key. Sometimes, you have to think outside the box."

To showcase current financing opportunities, Temkin and several others in Reinhart's Madison Real Estate Practice have developed and will host the complimentary "Early Thaw to the Credit Freeze: Financing Options in a Cold Market" discussion and Lender's Fair on Thursday, February 19 at the Monona Terrace in Madison, Wis.

Geared toward real estate developers, brokers and investors, the event will feature representatives from Grandbridge Capital, U.S. Bank, Monona State Bank, Robert W. Baird, and others including Reinhart attorneys who have connections with the private equity and tax credit markets. The event will give attendees the opportunities to talk with local lenders and learn how to keep their businesses moving forward despite market perceptions.

Reinhart shareholder Jesse S. Ishikawa notes that "While many traditional financing options still exist, new and innovative options are also coming into play. This event will provide insight on the various avenues. Early interest in the event has been high from both lenders and borrowers."

Fellow shareholder Melanie S. Lee, concurs. Lee notes that "When approaching local banks with our concept, I found them to be quite interested in participating. They understand that by being involved, they will have the opportunity to set the record straight as it pertains to current financing options and directly discuss how to obtain that financing with interested parties. As a real estate attorney, one of the additional services I provide is helping to make connections, and this event exemplifies the value we bring to clients, potential clients and friends of Reinhart."
