Mark A. Cameli is a member of the firm's Board of Directors and a shareholder in the Litigation Practice, where he co-chairs the White Collar Litigation and Corporate Compliance team. Mark also chairs Reinhart's Diversity Committee.
Mark represents business clients from a broad range of industries including manufacturing, health care, defense contractors and others operating under government-funded programs targeted in federal and state investigations for noncompliance and fraud. In addition, Mark has considerable experience successfully representing businesses and individuals in complex commercial litigation, including businesses victimized by fraud.
Mark was noted in Chambers USA 2008 as a "wonderfully talented lawyer with an abundance of common sense." Competitors recommend him as a skilled trial lawyer who is "extremely impressive in the courtroom."
Mark's professional background sets him apart and brings exceptional value to clients due to his unique, high-level experience in both the prosecution and defense of business tort and fraud-based cases. Prior to joining Reinhart, Mark built a distinguished career in the public sector, where he served as chief of the Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office in the Western District of Wisconsin, and was also the district's first Affirmative Civil Enforcement Coordinator. In his work as an Assistant United States Attorney, Mark participated in fraud investigations and subsequently litigated and appealed those cases. He was also chief of the Financial Litigation Unit, where he tried commercial disputes between the government and third parties. Often recognized for his accomplishments, notably by the Attorney General and federal agencies, Mark brings a deep understanding of prosecution process and personnel to private practice. He uses his insights and knowledge to create highly practical, cost-effective and reputation-saving strategies and solutions for the targeted businesses and individuals he represents. Where appropriate, he counsels clients on maximizing their chance of success by using publicly available resources.
Mark also works effectively with his clients to develop and improve their compliance plans and instructs professionals and staff on how to avoid costly mistakes. However, many of Mark's clients first come to him at a point of crisis, relying upon his trial and appellate experience in hundreds of civil and criminal cases (including a significant number of published cases) and his excellent negotiation skills to diagnose and find solutions for seriously advanced legal problems.
A seasoned and respected speaker, Mark frequently presents to client groups and professional associations, including health care groups and corporate clients, on compliance measures and best practices. In addition, he has shared his skills on trial advocacy as a faculty member for the Attorney General's Advocacy Institute at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and has also taught programs sponsored by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan Bar Associations.
